Help make a difference by putting your Faith in Action
Faith in Action Suggestion for the Month of November:
We are called to pray, AND we are called to put our faith into action. We are called to follow Jesus which means we need to love and serve our neighbors in the name of Christ. It’s also our job to stand up to injustice and respect the dignity of every human being.
Urge Senators to Support Marriage Equality - The Episcopal Church believes that God is love, and God’s love extends to LGBTQ+ children. That is why the Church supports marriage equality. Married couples ideally reflect the love of God to each other, and we affirm the spiritual and human value of the love couples share. Last year, Executive Council affirmed that “over the course of more than 40 years, the Episcopal Church has prayed, studied, and declared the blessing that LGBTQ people are and always have been in the Church" (1976-A071). In 2012, General Convention passed a resolution urging Congress to “pass legislation to allow the U.S. federal government to provide benefits” to same-sex couples. Yet, the legal rights and privileges afforded to same-sex married couples could be under threat. Want to help needy families feel the love of Christ this Christmas?
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS SHOPPE TOY COLLECTION – through December 11
We are collecting new, unwrapped toys to help make Christmas a little brighter for some families who are finding things challenging. Take an ornament off the Christmas Tree in the Narthex. Shop for the child described on the ornament, and bring your new, unwrapped gift(s) to add to our toy box. You can make a difference! Thanks for helping us share the love of Christ this season. Last day for giving: Sunday, Dec. 11th.
Here's what you can Look Forward to Next Sunday:
This Sunday, November 13th at 10:15am
We are near the end of our year-long study of the Gospel of Luke. Soon we will enter the season of Advent and look forward to the return of Christ. In this week's gospel lesson Jesus warns us not to be fearful, even when destruction and false messiahs come. Fear can keep us from doing the things God calls us to. We need to stay focused and faithful, for all shall be well. Come hear inspiring scripture, uplifting music, prayers that express our love and concerns, and explore ways to build spiritual strength for challenging times. Online, we offer Spiritual Communion. In-person, we offer Eucharist, the body of Christ, the bread of heaven. Come to church and get inspired!
Lots of great things are happening!
